    1. [AVC] Harbour/Maddocks family in Wandong area
    2. Deborah Delahunty
    3. I am wondering if anyone on the list is researching the Harbour family. From my scant records is seems that Martin Hargour married a Theresa Ryan in the 1880's and they had eleven children all born in the Wandong area. Also a Fanny Harbour who married a George Maddocks and also lived in the Wandong area, their sister Mary Ann was my gggrandmother. Martin, Fanny and Mary Ann's father William Harbour was a convict who lived in the Templestowe area but moved to the Kilmore Shire before his death in 1889. He was 81 years old and had fractured his thigh. He was buried at the Wallan cemetery by Kerr undertakers. A point of interest - I am yet to find the Wallan cemetery, could anyone help me with its location for the next time I am passing through. Deb

    3. In VicRoads Country Directory, Koriella is on map 62 C4, abt 10 kilometers northwest of Alexandra. Whanregarwen Road runs parallel to the Goulburn River a couple of kilometers to the south of the river, and Scrubby Creek Road runs south from Whanregarwen Road. Hope this helps, Mike Skurrie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil & Marg Andrews" <nandrews@caloundra.net> To: <AUS-VIC-CENTRAL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 29, 2002 7:07 PM Subject: [AVC] Alexandra localities > Greetings all, > I am hoping someone in the Alexandra area can tell me where Whanregarwen is > and whether it is a town or a locality, and how close it is to Scrubby > Creek? Although I was born in Alex, I cannot now envisage how close these places are. My grandfather's property was always described as Scrubby Creek but in his Will a property at Wharegarwen is mentioned - same place? Also Koriella, was that just a short buggy ride to visit the above neighbours? With thanks to anyone able to straighten me out on this one. Marg A. 3. Hello Alan, I have an interest in the surname McDonald. I am currently researching a family with the father being Hector McDonald, Mother Maria and they lived in the Avenel area from about 1879. Hector was from the Isle of Skye, Scotland. Would be interested to know your McDonald connections. 3. Hi Robyn I'm a bit of a dill! I forgot that Heathcote now has a genealogical section at back of the local library! AND a very active historical society. ( Didn't relise there was a list just for Heathcote. ) I've been researching my husband's tree for awhile but they didn't come from here in Heathcote. I'm a great user of the on-line BDMs, loved it when I tracked back my maternal grandmother's side - all free NSW BDMs! I read about this new section opening up a few months ago. I'll go check it out tomorrow (Wednesday) if its open, Friday at the latest-as the library is open all day then. I can check out the historical society tomorrow. Also the local paper might have archives back that far.
