Hello Julie, Yes, you have the right list for Lancefield. All I could find on the BDMs is the birth of Donald Wright ASHWORTH at Essendon in 1919. Father was Henry, mother was Gerte Rose WRIGHT, which explains Donald's middle name. So they would appear to be here in 1919 not the 1930s. Searched for a marriage or birth of siblings back to 1902 without success. No deaths of parents or siblings in Victoria up to 1985. No death for Gerte. Some possible deaths for Henry, but not at Lancefield. Can't help with the rest Cheers Peter ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At 11:08 PM 14/08/02 +0930, you wrote: >Could SKS please tell me if this is the correct list for the area of >Lancefield? > >My Uncle has just arrived this am from Lancashire....he has just informed >me that his Uncle came to Lancefield back in the early 1930's ?? Hi Peter, Ohhhhh many thanks I really appreciate all the help...you marvel..... could i please have the possible deaths and I can look into them??? Is that asking to much .....IF so please be honest and tell me..... cheers Julie
Could SKS please tell me if this is the correct list for the area of Lancefield? My Uncle has just arrived this am from Lancashire....he has just informed me that his Uncle came to Lancefield back in the early 1930's ?? I have spent an hour whilst he is resting looking up and have located the area they lived in when their only son died in 1945 during the war. ( he is listed on the CWGC )...He was Donald Wright ASHWORTH who died aged 25 in 1945. If this is the list would anyone on the list happen to live near to Lancefield that could help me with a few history questions please re ASHWORTH HILL and Rd...?? I am certain this must be named after the family...I have seen on the net an ASHWORTH winery as well in the area but i think that must just be the name of the winery for the area not name associated... Also if anyone on the list has access to the Vic BDM indexes that could please look up the marriage Henry ASHWORTH to Gertrude Rose ?? and also any deaths of the above persons if listed..... many thanks - I am sorry for the rush but my Uncle is only here for four weeks and if we do have any living relatives i would love to make contact before he goes home... obviously if this is the wrong list could someone also please let me know ;-) cheers and thanks Julie
Dear Elizabeth, Thank you for replying. I have not been able to get that web address displayed so far, but will keep trying. I am not sure about Whittlesea - I think the original Popples came from Leicester England and came to Australia 1844. They were Thomas & Mary Popple They had about 9 children - Betsy, William, Matthias, Frederick, Thomas (all born in UK) then Rebecca, Mary Jane and Marian born in Aust. Apparently they went first to Morang which was later known as Yan Yean and then Mernda) John, Frederick and Thomas moved to Thornton near Alexandra. I have more if you see a connection. Frederick married Isabella Baird and they had 9 children also. Do you want more? hi everyone, can anyone please help? I am desperately trying to make contact with the descendants of Maurice Argent, he was born in london (probably kilburn) around 1915, adopted by the Argent family in Kilburn, he emigrated to Parkville Victoria Australia between the wars and ran a postal service using camels, i suspect he passed away in late 1970`s in Parkville. Maurice had three sisters and one brother, also many half siblings, one sister was adopted and I have not yet found her family, one sister and the brother have passed away, leaving one sister still with us. I am also intouch with the Argent family who adopted Maurice, along with his birth family I am his great great niece. I have made it my mission to find his descendants before the older family members pass on. Any advice or help will be gratefully received. thank you all for your time, best wishes Pat ===== My genealogy web site http://www.freewebz.com/toomey toomeys and other relations, many other surnames please visit. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi to all in my old stamping ground. I just wondered if there is a web site or somewhere I could access the records of burials at the Alexandra Cemetery. ALL my rellies were buried there, and there will be some I didn't know about. So not seeking a look-up but a way to look at the whole kit and kaboodle. Is this possible? Thanks in advance to anyone who can advise me. Marg A in Queensland nandrews@caloundra.net
Hello John, Is your Brown related to George Brown m. Agnes Alice Zwar ? their son Alan George Brown m. Mary McComb. They are a distant lateral branch of one of my lines. My grandparents also came from Broadford. The trouble with planning is that it takes the skills out of day to day crisis management.
