    1. [AVC] Doolan, Hagerty & Morris families - Romsey/Lancefield
    2. Rick and Lorraine
    3. Hi Listers Biddy & Owen DOOLAN bought land at Romsey in the first sale of Crown grant land at Kilmore in 1855. They, and their two sons, Patrick and Michael moved there from, I think, the Bulla district c1855/56. Their daughter, Gilley Maria, her husband William HAGERTY and their first two daughters Mary and Jane moved to Lancefield, possibly around 1858. Three, possibly four more children were born to them there. Gilley Maria "took up" with William Henry MORRIS, a saddler, possibly around 1864 and had numerous children by him, before eventually marrying him, in Lancefield, in 1877 (presumably the year William Hagerty died, although I have not been able to verify that). Only the youngest Morris child, Joseph Goodwin, was borne in wedlock. Owen and Patrick Doolan obtained leases on land in the Pyalong district under the 1869 Land Act in the name of DOWLING. The Hagertys were referred to as HEGARTY, HAGGERTY, HEGGARTY, etc. At some time, perhaps after her marriage to William Henry Morris, Gilley dropped her first name and was known as Maria Morris. Theirs is a long and complicated story and I am eager to hear from anyone who might be working on any of these families. Regards Lorraine Vass Wyrallah NSW

    3. Hello Listers, Is anyone researching the family of John August Marcon who was born in France approx 1840, married in Adelaide 1880 and came to Vic with wife Elizabeth Mary Hocking and 2 or 3 children around 1887? They had a further 10 children in Vic including 2 born at Whittlesea in 1903 and 1907. I am interested in the line of their daughter Mary Elizabeth MARCON who died in 1912 aged 32 as Mary Elizabeth PARKER and left behind 6 children, David Charles and Mina, (either Thompson or Ellis) also Albert, William, Mary and August PARKER. Would be pleased to hear from anyone who could fill gaps for me. Kind Regards Pat Gow (Parker)

    3. Hi, I am new to the list. My ancestors, John and Eliza MCDONALD/MACDONALD purchased land in Upper Plenty in 1855, this land is now owned by Uncle Ned's Riding School. They came from Fort William, Scotland in 1849. Of Their eight children only one survived, Alexander. He married Jessie PRITCHARD, his second cousin. Jessie's parents were Mary MCDONALD and Arthur PRITCHARD of Melton. Mary MCDONALD'S parents were Alexander MCDONALD (brother of John I think)and Flora MCEACHERN also from Fort William. One of Flora and Alexander's sons married Rosanna ROE and settled in the Shepparton area. Any connections out there? REGARDS, JULIE COTTEE. _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

    3. I am searching for relations of Thomas Harton (aka James Harton) and his wife Emily Veronica Jones. Thomas/James was born in Taranagulla, Victoria in 1865 and died in Daylesford Victoria 1903. Emily was born in NSW in 1862 and died in Victoria in 1936. They had 8 children: Alice, James, Eliza, Thomas, Walter, Maud, Leonora and Lucy. Thomas's fathers name was Benjamin Harton and his mother was Eliza Lewis. Emily's father was Adolphus Bartlett Jones and her mother Emily Downing. I cant find a marriage record of the couple despite their wedding day being listen on Eliza Hartons birth cert as 3/11/1891 in Sydney. I also cant find any record of the birth of their first child Alice who was supposedly born in NSW in 1892/3. Alice is my greatgrandmother. Any info or guidance appreciated! Thankyou Nadene

    3. Hi to all, The current thread on school enrolments leads me to ask the question: Is it possible to get the students (and staff) of the Alexandra State School for any period over the last 150 years? (I guess online is asking too much) If this isn't possible, can anyone advise of how I can determine what members of my families were living there in what years? Marg A nandrews@caloundra.net

    3. Hello Everyone, I have just joined the list and hope that I may find a connection with someone re the above family. PATRICK FLANNERY b1819 Ireland married in 1850 to MARY GOLLYILLE/GALLAGHER/GOLLIGHER/GAUGHLEY/GOLOGLYKER/ENGLISHBY (spellings gained from several certificates). Not sure of where the marriage took place. One certificate says Portland Bay, Adelaide (a search of SA BDM found nothing) and another certificate states that they married in Melbourne. One of their daughters MARY ANN FLANNERY was born in Kilmore Vic in 1850. I have yet to search the Vic BDM for their marriage and birth of Mary Ann. Regards Judy Brisbane
