    3. Peter, Thanks for sorting out my query - our answer seems to definitely make sense. Mr. Lange must have been a travelling photographer. 3. Hi List I am looking for a John Kennedy born in the 1850's - parents were Alexander Kennedy and Ann McKinnon who were married in Victoria in 1853.. According to Ann's marriage registration of 1874, when she married James Leech/Leach(Leitch according to the registration ) Alexander died in 1858. Ann and James must have been together since late 1861 (James arrived in Victoria on the Empire of Peace) or early 1862. They had 6 children, none of their births were recorded and the only child mentioned on Ann's death registration in 1893 was John. Ann is buried in St Arnuad Victoria, where I have found various records relating to the family refer back to. James is buried in Brisbane - it was a real challenge locating him. So far information on John and his family (?) have eluded me. Can anyone help please? Lynette Brisbane, Australia

Lyn Sorry I can't help with your Boldiston family, but if you come across references to DOOLANs (farmers), HAGERTYs (farm workers) and a William MORRIS (saddler), in the Romsey/Lancefield/Pyalong district, I would be very interested in them. 3. Rade I have been doing a bit of snooping on the NSW BDM system - I found an entry for an Isaac Leech who died in Sydney in 1913 - he was a publican. Has this been checked out - it is possible that there could be an obituary for him in the paper of the day. 3. Hi Rade Where did you find the shipping records that you checked Rade? I know that several years ago Vic Gold was accessable on the internet and at present there are some other records relating to shipping that you can als o access on the internet. The only problem with these ones as I found out when I went to the State Library here in Queensland was that they were an index those held at the State Library told me a whole lot more. Rade have heart, it took me 10 years to locate my Great Great Grandfather - August last year I met up with a lady who had been looking for her Leech/Leach family for 20 years. It appeared that we were related but we just were not certain. It took 3 months of hard slog to find Great Great Grandfather buried in Brisbane and to put the pieces together. I am only telling you this because probably like me you thought that with the name "Leech" it was going to be easy. Do you know how many of them came to Australia (some as convicts)? And would you believe that not too many of them were related to each other. Now that you have given me this information I'll put pen to paper with Kevin and see if he has any information for you. Rade another question for you - what spellings of the surname have you checked for ? 3. Hi Lynette, I obtained a copy of my Mary Ann LEECH's two marriage registrations, the birth certificates for her 7 children and her death but unfortunately there is no family information for her. Thus my problem. I pursued the Witnesses to the marriages as well with another complete blank. The original information I posted on this list was from the shipping records. There is also a shipping record of a couple named James & Mary Ann LEECH arriving in SA in 1849 and a probable subsequent birth of a child James that did not survive. But my Mary Ann LEECH was a spinster at her first marriage in SA. So far the shipping angle has not produced any further family information. I have searched for Obits in newspapers and there is a lot of information on the First Families 2001 website for James Whitney MAY my Mary Ann LEECH's first husband. But no info on Mary herself. Up till now I have not been able to find an obit for Mary. Mary's second husband was a city councillor and I have searched the Adelaide City Archives for details of him and his family, but no information on Mary appeared. I am in contact with another very active researcher (the author of the First Families entry) who has descended from Mary's first marriage and she has spent a long time looking for Mary's ancestry with no success. Other search angles like hospitals, medical records, local council history, electoral rolls, etc have also so far drawn a blank. Thus I have been thwarted at every turn so far. So I thought I would place a question on this list re the LEECH family on the 'Alexander'. At least that has found you and some other LEECH researchers. So that is encouraging. I learnt about this LEECH family on the Alexander in 1841 from another researcher in Sydney who was investigating the possibility that the other daughter of the family namely Catherine was in her family, but she drew a blank as well. Thankyou for passing my contact details to Kevin. I look forward to a response. 3. I have just received a list of school enrollment details for some relations in Ballarat. On two occasions, where information regarding the last school attended was required there was the entry "Miss Johnson P.S." The date is 1908 & the child concerned would have been 6 or 7 years old. Has anyone any knowledge of "Miss Johnson", or what the "PS" may stand for? Maybe Pre School or Public School ??? The family was large & not well to do which discounts Private School.
