Someone else has come up with Annie and Alexander, preceeded by Ellen Isobella, b1871 and followed by an unregistered Sarah in 1868, so I guess I'm trying to find an unregistered Mary in 1870. Still trying to verify the Canadian Henry Brown and Scottish Annie Boyd, married in Ballarat in 1861 are the parents of 'my' Mary Brown! I have discounted the NSW Browns for the time being at least.
