I can see from the death notice of Charles Bulmer DAVIS in NZ, that he was 59 years of age on 4 March 1897. So born about 1837. There is this mention of him on Trove digitized Australian newspapers.... The Age, Melbourne, Vic., Wednesday 4 April 1855 p 5: Charles Bulmer Davis 1855 Campbell's Creek, Victoria. Victoria Police Gazette ".....Bench for the apprehension of one Charles Bulmer Davis, charged with feloniously stealing 30 ounces, of gold dust ... near Bendigo." AND (a different man???) Bendigo Advertiser, Vic., Friday 10 September 1858: "BIRTH. On the 8th instant, at the Retreat Inn, Spring Gully, the wife of Mr. William Bulmer Davis, of a son" What was the trade of Charles Bulmer DAVIS?
