The more you know about her family.....siblings and children, the better chance you have to find a reference to her, through events in their lives. Why is she is Bairnsdale, when the 1917 newspaper notice would seem to suggest that she has an association with Warrandyte from marriage in 1900 to 1917...established in the area? When her only son has returned injured from the war....and he would seem to be supporting her (allotment from pay in his war file) And it looks like Mary might not be living with John FOOTE, because Mary is being identified in Warrandyte as Mrs SMITH? Do you have marriage certificate for William Alexander SMITH........how does he name his father.........who are witnesses? In her old age Mary would likely go to live with her daughter.....is Edith living in Bairnsdale.
