Firstly, Mary Foote's last known address, through the next of kin thing for her son, was "Lakes Entrance, via Bairnsdale" - that was in 1919. Then there is the letter, headed simply "Bairnsdale" from my mother's parents and grandparents. As Mary and whoever her partner was at the time in 1954, was the only set of grandparents my mother had in Australia, I can only conclude that it is Mary with a new husband/partner.
