I Googled the address where David worked , came up with the Golden Gate Hotel. Established in 1853, the Golden Gate Hotel is an iconic pub in South Melbourne that offers bar, dining and function room facilities for you and your guests. I think your right I don't think those births you found are not right, they just don't click. Is it possible to look for a birth with just the mothers name? Mary Wilson might have married after Mary Jane was born, hard to say though. It might be in the next few years, she probably needed help raising her baby. Just a thought!
