She met and married Hugh Duffy and then later Gustavo Musteller and lived for the best part of her life in America. Yes, you are definitely correct.....this is a challenge. Janet Hastings and Dora were the closest of siblings and remained so, even with the distance, until the day Dora died (17th September 1956) in Brisbane, while visiting Janet (aka known as Jean). I am coming to the conclusion that Janet and Gerald may never married and perhaps that my father, Colyer John McKay, may not have been their biological child. Janet was close to her mother, so being reared by an Aunty somehow doesn't seem correct. She and James Jonas Caldwell were living with Janet's mother when first married and a newspaper article about her divorce stated that she couldn't live with his mother in law and Janet would not leave her. She was only 15 at the time. As a child, listening to my grandmothers stories, it was only ever Dora that she spoke of. Until I started this research we had no idea that there were other girls in the family and a boy. I do know that Harold Ralph was raised by an Aunty (on James's side...Henrietta). My father also never had any idea about the early marriage of Janet or the child until I started the research. It has been a facinating journey, that is for sure. I am happy to help with any other questions you may have and thank you for your email. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
