Thanks for your response John, Mary born 22 Sep 1849, would have been 3 years in May 1853. There were four steerage passengers on that voyage, I am hoping Thomas was one of them. Constable Thomas Hume's birthplace and description don't match those of my ancestor luckily, the Constable was later convicted of allowing a prisoner to escape. Ron Hume Adelaide SA
