Hi Ron just a point Is this family Roman Catholic? Also do you have them as being listed on a official shipping list as I understand they were only listed as 5 children not individually named with ages. Thomas HUME was on the ship in steerage from Launceston to Melbourne 15th January 1853 by himself on the ship Clarence not the same ship as his wife and children They also had a child named Edward HUME born 1851 and died 1852 in Tasmania too they arrived on ship to Tasmania on 27 3 1847 on ship Mount Stewart Elphinstone from London I will be in at Genealogy SA at Unley on Wednesday & Thursday as a volunteer so will have a look for your Mary a bit more. What if Mary was actually 3 months old not 3 years old on arrival in Victoria then that death would fit. and can you please tell me where you got the date from for Mary's birth I could not find that date when I looked earlier. There were four steerage passengers on that voyage, I am hoping Thomas was one of them. Constable Thomas Hume's birthplace and description don't match those of my ancestor luckily, the Constable was later convicted of allowing a prisoner to escape.
