FALLON Edward Place: Murray Darling River Junction Year 1856 Reference: 722 Cause: Accident drowned Occupation: Mounted Constable Mildura Cemetery would not have existed in 1856. This area was a pastoral area. In 1847 Hugh Jamieson on behalf of William Stawell took up an area of 150,000 acres known as Yerre Yerre. It was combined with the Irymple Run of 28,160 acres and in 1858 the runs were re-named Mildura. Mildura was gazetted as a town on 20 March 1858. Unfortunately the Victorian Govt Gazettes online commence at 1880 so I can't search for the cemetery reserve being gazetted. Mildura Cemetery records are not online. I suggest you contact Mildura Rural City Council. Their staff are extrememly helpful but extremely doubtful that a record would exist for a burial in 1856.
