Foster died in Melbourne in 1923 and his partner Annie Margaret Ashby, died in Jervois St. St. Kilda, Victoria in 1901 from breast and lung cancer. There were six children Ivy May, Elsie Marie (my grandmother), Claude Spencer (died just after World War 1 in France from influenza, Linda Alice, Constance and Robert Leslie. The children take the surname Ashby on their birth certificates but later took the name Williams. It does not appear that Foster and Annie were married. I can't find a birth certificate or death certificate for Foster Spencer Williams although he is in the Electoral Roll in 1903 as living at 38 Camden Street, St. Kilda and in 1909 as living at 4 Camden Street, St. Kilda, Victoria. He may also have lived at 44 Greeves Street, St. Kilda as some of the children lived there in later years. Foster Williams was reputed to be a gold buyer and on occasion travelled to Kalgoorlie, Western Australia for that purpose. His employment in the Electoral Roll is listed as a Traveller and/or Commercial Traveller. Annie Ashby was born in Port Fairy, Victoria to a William Ashby and Catherine White, Catherine having immigrated from Bray in Ireland. Any information about Foster Spencer Williams and Annie Margaret Ashby would be much appreciated, Foster in particular as I can't find a birth or death certificate.
