I have not linked my Kearns with Avoca, which is about an hour away from where Timothy lived. I have his marriage cert in 1859, and the birth of his 5 children between 1860 and 1873. After this he dissapears off the radar. Family legend has it that he went to Australia to meet a cousin who was a constable there (he had gone out in the 1840s). Timothy was supposed to earn the fares for his wife and children by working in the gold mines but unfortunately they never heard from him again. A letter from a neighbouring family who had also emigrated there led his family in Ireland to believe he was still alive in this region to at least 1900.
