It is what the informant believed to be true at the time. Some can be wrong because the informant is so grief stricken that are not thinking properly and supply incorrect names. I have death certificates with incorrect parents listed, assumed marriages that never took place or missing information. If the informant thought Dorothy was married then that is what would be on the death certificate. Another possibility is that maybe the informant considered it a scandal and maintained the lie to protect Dorothy's reputation.
