I've spent the last couple of hours ploughing through all my notes and there's nothing whatever to say she was born in Yan Yean; I must have mistranscribed something long ago. Sorry to have misled anyone. In fact her death certificate (which I've hastily bought to fill this sudden gap) says she was born in Inverness, had been 62 years in Victoria (so from about 1851) and married James Johnstone in Melbourne at 22 (also about 1851).
