Family stories suggest my grt maternal grandfather Thomas James HINMAN might actually be a TOZER. Story goes he was in British Navy, jumped ship in India, changed name and came to Qld Australia where her married. Death certificate indicates he was born in Devon approx. 1862 - died in Coburg in 1946. Old family stories suggest his name correct name might be TOZER/TOWSER? Suggestion he was a nephew to Rear Admiral Pelham? Another story that he was born within sound of Bow Bells which would make him a Cockney? Lots of conflicting anecdotal info - frustrating search. Thos Jas HINMAN/TOZER? returned to UK for visit after George V pardoned deserters. Any suggestions? Bev .................... If a relation to PELHAM..this is on Peerage: Rear-Admiral Hon.
