BRUTHEN, Saturday James Spittall, a bullock-driver, was killed last night while riding from Bruthen to Missiface. When about half the journey had been accomplished something went wrong with the bridle. The horse bolted and dashed its rider against a tree. Spittall was struck near the left temple, and the force of the impact was heard by persons who were standing near. Pieces of hair were found sticking to the tree. An inquest was held to-day, before Mr.H. P. Keogh, J.P., and a verdict of accidental death was returned. He was only 49. Death reg 12755 shows him as son of James and Eilzabeth Sarah.
