There has always been a belief true or otherwise that they were from Inverness. Catherine was born on the 4th May 1929 in Aharacle, Argyle. Although on her fathers death certificate from Victoria in 1891 it shows two Catherines, whether this date refers the Catherine in Victoria i'm not sure but it fits with the age at her marriage and death. The family is believed to have come out to Australia around the 1850 mark as he married again in 1854. His wife Catherine died in 1848. He had a sister Ann who married a Donald McPherson and who was a witness to his second marriage to Margaret Kerr.
