    3. I have a John Smith who died in Port Fairy, Victoria on 30 April 1859. According to his death certificate he was 29 years of age and was born in Kent, England. He has been in Victoria for 12 years. No parents are listed. He was married to Mary Anne Hoey and she was pregnant with their fourth daughter when he died in an accidental death. I have his death certificate, burial records and "Letters of Intestate". I have five possible John Smith's born in Kent in this time period but with a name like John Smith I have hit a brick wall. Am I overlooking any other record in Victoria which may provide me with his parents names. I can't identify which John Smith he was arriving in 1847. Any suggestions from anyone of another source I can try. 3. Hi Heather, I would make contact with the Port Fairy Genealogy Society http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~auspfgs/index.html They would have their finger on the pulse re which John Smith was which. Although there will be a research fee it would be worth your while to find out. They may have a newspaper item about the accidental death of John. I have checked TROVE and couldn't find anything, but maybe the particular newspaper is not on TROVE.
