In November 1856 Sir Henry Barkly was appointed governor of Victoria,... and it was in no sense a criticism of him that he was moved to the Governorship of Mauritius in 1863 In September 1863, Charles Henry Darling took up duty as governor of Victoria....As a result Darling resigned from the colonial service in April 1867, Victoria - John Manners-Sutton, Lord Canterbury, Governor of Victoria (1866-1873) I found an Alexander M in 'Hard Hills', miner in 1856 Name: Alexander McIntosh-Miner's Rights Gender: Male Electoral Year: 1856 State: Victoria District: Loddon Subdistrict: Moliagul not sure if that's where your man was.
