    3. Sorry - my memory failed me a bit before - Matilda MANSER, b 1825 Kent - her parents were Thomas MANSER and Emma LAWRENCE- they arrived 1841 - the photo on Ancestry is of John Cook GOODA and it was Maria MANSER ( Matilda's sister ) who married the convict Stephen DEMPSEY. Matilda GOODA nee MANSER died November 1849 ...................................... >From a Tree on Ancestry: Eliza Gooda married Charles Bartier at St James Anglican Church, Pitt Town, N.S.W. They moved to Wallangra Station where Charles was a horse driver, labourer and carpenter. They also lived at Hickeys Plains. They then moved to Warialda where Eliza ran a hotel and Charles worked as a bridge builder. She was renowned for her knowledge of herbs. She was said to have treated some of the local bushrangers for gunshot wounds and consequently the hotel was safe from their attacks. She died at Warialda at the age of 46. The family left the hotel and the older girls kept house for their father while he continued his work building bridges ................................. Sorry about that - I am curious as to what happened to my time consuming research of this morning! You are welcome to email me directly as this should probably not be on the Vic List! Cheers Jocelyn
