She is actually my first cousin, once removed. Her married name is Fitzpatrick and she now lives in Melbourne (as far as I know). There was also a second daughter Florence O'Brien (b. 1928 d. 2003). Patricia's daughter Angela has completed extensive research on this branch of the family tree. She now lives in Adelaide, and has a link on the Ancestry site. Her profile name is "angerodoni14". Louisa's maiden name was Polglase too, just to make things tricky. Louisa was born in Cormwall and arrived with her mother Mary in 1857 and her father John arrived on a different ship in 1852. Louisa and William were married after 1871 because she had a son to an unknown father that year. Lousia and William had a son in 1874 in SA. there is no record of their marriage in SA, so I am hoping they may have married in Victoria. Any info would be great. During the 1990's and 2000's he did a lot of research into various aspects of family history. He died a few years ago, and I've just started to go through his papers with the aim of collating the information he collected .. perhaps onto a website such as 'The Napthines in Australia'. A small edge I have here is that our son Elliot works in the website design and development area, so no doubt there will be a few fatherly requests for favours! I'd be very happy to pass on any information that I have to you... email gnapthine@gmail.com Gary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I believe that 2 separate Reckleben families moved to Castlemaine before 1855. The first reference I have there is from the late 1840s. My GGG Grandmother had 8 brothers and sisters. I can't confirm if any came out here but 3 girls with similar names and ages married into the Moog, Baxter and Wessals families. My GGG Grandmother came straight to Castlemaine in 1859 so I suspect she knew relatives were there. Also, there is a Reckleben St in Castlemaine. I note similar names on the Digger pioneer site as those on my old prussian family tree but I can't be 100% sure of the connection. Tim. William Woodfine, born 1827 Chelmsford, Essex. Have him with parents Thomas and Eliza and siblings in 1841 census. Thomas and Eliza both 30, William 14. Understand that in this census ages were often rounded up/down. Most "connections" which appear on Ancestry have Thomas and Eliza born 1811, but some have them marrying according to Pallot's Marriage Index in 1823. Is it just me, or would they really have been married at 12 years old? I have followed William in Victoria, Australia, so am not looking for more recent info - need to follow Thomas, etc to earlier times, if anyone can help. Thanks for reading. I've just started looking into this, following on from some work (lots of letters and notes I haven't looked at in detail) my father Ian did some years ago. The combination of 'gold fever' and poor circumstances do sound like the most likely reasons for the emmigration. Follow up question. All the brothers eventually settled in the Terang/Warrnambool area, and certainly Robert and Benjamin appeared to do quite well. Elijah (my GG GrFthr), may not have been as successful, and his son Robert (my G GrFthr) eventually moved to Preston (Melbourne). I'd be interested to know the circumstances regarding this move, given that other than son Elijah, the other siblings remained in the Terang area. Any information or sources would be appreciated. Very pleased and interested to read your email. The only reason i can think of for the 3 brothers to leave Suffolk, was that Elijah and Benjamin were both Mariners, and that their sailing travels had taken them to Australia. Now the other brother that went with them was William born abt 1821.For some reason he changed his name to Robert when he got to Australia, . He did have an older brother called Robert, maybe that was why. William/Robert is listed as servant on 1851 census, and i know the family were poor,so i think the 3 brothers decided to start a new life in Australia. What a good decision. Jennifer.
