I drove past Framlingham last week, but there was no point looking because I had no idea where the property was. All these little bits of information put together will eventually give us enough detail to search the land files. Land files provide a lot of information about the families. If ever I do manage to locate the property, I will let you know. KInd Regards, Trish Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi, I'm trying to help a friend find more about her grandmother:- Violet May Cook born 1897, Melbourne Father, Henry Ernest Cook Mother, Mary Ann Long Violet married Stanley Lloyd Collisson 1918 in Vict. Born 1897 Father, George James Collisson Mother, Alice Folkes Alice and Stanley were still living together in 1931 at Hotham Street Melbourne but sometime after that they separated. As far as I can find Stanley seems to have returned to NSW where I believe he died in Sydney about 1962. It is believed Violet remarried but I haven't been able to find any remarriage for her and it seems she remained in Victoria possibly Bendigo but not certain about that. Any help in finding what happened to Violet or any contact with her family would be much appreciated. Regards Cecily Smith Brisbane
Hi I'm looking for any information on this couple please Alfred and Mary Starr were from Chatteris Cambridgeshire UK and left on the 'Bankers Daughter' on 3/9/1853. Alfred was an agricultural labourer, Mary was a 'wife', both were members of the Church of England. Alfred has 'D.O.B' as his destination which I suspect means 'died on board' or somethingsimilar. Mary looks to have made it all the way to Geelong. Could anyone tell me any further information on the above please, I would like to find out if Alfred did in fact die on the voyage over. Any information gratefully received. Kind regards Dianna

Edward's father was a shoemaker. Both Edward and Charlotte said they were living in Carrawa , Edward was a labourer, born Gunderoo NSW and could not sign his name, but Charlotte, born Avoca Vic signed hers. They were married by and at the home of Rev William GOULD of Barkly St Benalla who was a 'Primitive Methodist'. 2 witnesses - Charlotte's father, who signed his name and Emily Martha RYAN ( her mark X)..sadly, it looks like Emily died aged only 19..must have been just after the marriage as death is 1874- probably a friend of Charlotte's. Interesting that Edward James FOSTER was buried RC in 1929..I wonder if this marriage didn't last?? ..... a Miss LEE helped with a fundraiser bazaar at the Primitive Methodist church in 1873- you can search these yourself sometime: The North Eastern Ensign (Benalla, VIC. : 1872 - 1938) Friday 17 October 1873 Well this has taken all day, searching high and low and I have no further clues re Joseph, Anna or Charlotte ( apart from their children etc which you have)...it is interesting about the marriage in 1851 for Joseph Allen LEE - I wonder if his first wife died and he didn't re-marry but just lived with Anna DRAPER...it wouldn't be very Methodist though I reckon! I wonder if it is worth getting the marriage cert - it might shed some light as to his parentage etc Name: Joseph Allen Lee Spouse Name: Sarah Adams Marriage Date: 3 Feb 1851 Marriage Place: Adelaide Registration Place: Adelaide, South Australia Page Number: 235 Volume Number: 4 Then I thought I would check out SA and lo! I found these articles after searching everywhere eles all day - not what you want to hear I guess South Australian (Adelaide, SA : 1844 - 1851) Tuesday 25 March 1851 POLICE COURT.Friday, March 21. Joseph Lee, in custody for beating bis wife, WM discharged fur want of evidence. then - woops, I found this: South Australian Register (Adelaide, SA : 1839 - 1900) Saturday 22 March 1851 Joseph Lee appeared to the complaint of .his wife, Sarah Lee,- for beating and otherwise ill-using her. A quarrel had arisen respecting the price of some liquor that had been sent for in her house (a house of ill fame) by some male acquaintance who had come in. . : ' ', The prisoner denied the entire charge. The woman' was a lunatic, well known as an habitual drunkard; and in 'the habit of being seen drunk about the streets. ' He. thought, it very hard that he should have to answer for the bruises' she got in these brawls. ! ??? ?-'? '' The prosecutrix not producing any witnesses, the Magistrate dismissed the case. ? i..'1''' ''?' . ;' That Sarah LEE appeared on the papers a few times- including an article saying she was living with a mr Taylor and that her husband had gone to 'the diggings'..you can read it here: South Australian Register (Adelaide, SA : 1839 - 1900) Saturday 21 February 1852 Its easier to search for Sarah LEE than Joseph LEE in Sth Aust as a shipping vessel has the same name... I have had a look at my Reckleben file for the first time since I compiled it, more than 25 years ago. Unfortunately a lot of the information in it, is unvarified. In my first post I stated that the parents of Maurice Reckleben were Elizabeth Scwerdkfagen & Frederick William Reckleben. I can ind no reference in my file to confirm this. When Maurice married Katherine Hawkswood in 1875 in New Zealand, his parents names were not recorded. He died in 1938 & his death record states he was born at Emerald Hill, Melbourne, Australia. His father was William Rickleben, butcher. His mothers maiden name is unknown. Prior to the marriage of Maurice & Kathleen there is a birth record fora William Hawkesfoot Rickleben born 26 september1873 to Kate Rickleben and Morris Rickleben, Butcher.I have no record of what became of William Hawkesfoot.Though he may be the William Rickleben operating a boarding house at Ngakawa, Nelson NZ, listed in Wises Directory for 1890 & 1896. I do have a New Zealand marriage record for a Frederick William Reckleben, blacksmith, born Madburgh, Prussia, whose parents are listed as William Reckleben, engine fitter and Elizabeth, maiden name, Shwerdkfagen. Frederick aged 43, resident of Charleston, married Minnie Cowley on 10th July 1883 in Westport, Buller. They appear to have had no children. He died 21st November 1913 aged 72 at Waihi, Thames. Both Charleston, on the West Coast of the South Island & Waihi in the north of the North Island were gold mining towns. In Waihi Frederick's occupation is listed as engineer, and his wife Minnie as fruiterer. The first record I have of him in New Zealand is in Wises Directory for 1880-81: William Reckleben, Blacksmith, Charleston. >From the information I have I cannot with any certainty link Frederick William Reckleben with Maurice Rickleben whose daughter, Gladys Alecia, married my great grandfather Loius Herbert Hedley. Maurice Rickleben (who wrote his name a Moritz but had his name spelt variously as Maurice, Morice, Morris, Monty), and Catherine Hawkswood had at least seven children who survived childhood: William Hawkesfoot, Louise Alice, Gladys Alecia, Annie Mirriam, Alan Ernest, Augusta Elizabeth, and Joyce Audrey. The Moog connection is with Louise Alice Rickleben. She married Adolf Moog of Bendigo, Australia. Adolf had been previously married (I have no information as to who). Louise died on 18th October 1955 aged 80 years, in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. In 1875 Maurice Rickleben's surname was recorded as Reckleben. By 1876 that first 'e' was replaced by 'i'.This spelling was maintained by the family in official documents until 1969 when the surname ceased to exist in New Zealand. In various public directories it took several forms: Rickleben, Reckleben, Ricklebin, Reckelben. The surame died with Alan Ernest Rickleben. Bachelor, born 1886, died 13 July 1969, Lower Hutt. Frederick William Reckleben's surname always appears as Reckleben in the official record, but sometime he is referred to as Reckelben in public directories. His surname died with him in 1913. A few references I noted in my file may also be of interest: Wilhelm Reckleber, Nov/1854 Victoria, appears in the Immigration Index Victoria Australia, From Foreign Ports 1852 - 1855 Reckarbown, male, died aged 43 years, Broken Hill. Listed in New South Wales, Australia, Death Index 1890 - 1899 Misses Rickleben (2), Saloon, passengers arrived April 23rd 1898, Sydney from Auckland [New Zealand] aboard 'Elingamite'. The Shipping Masters Office, Sydney, Records. [Possibly about the time Louisa married Adolf Moog. In Australia?] A daughter of Augusta Elizabeth Reckleben (who married Arthur Jones in NZ in 1916) informed me that Maurice Rickleben came to Hokitika (on the West Coast of the South Island) in 1864, from Australia at the age of 15 years and his occupation was butcher. Hi Folk My apologies if you have already had this message, but I haven't seen it come through. I am desperately looking for a marriage of Harold CLEMENTS to Grace HAGGART. I have all the New Zealand information but I am trying to find when they married and where. Thanks for any help. Alma
