Thanks Jocelyn, I'll have a look at the tree, I have a 12 month sub to ancestry, I must have missed that tree yesterday. ' John Quirk was fined 10s or' 48 hours in Sale gaol.., Catherine Barrett was mulcted in a similar penalty. Another case against Thomas Quirk for another child was struck out throughosomo error in the summons. so it looks like Thomas must have had a brother John as well there are quite a few mentions of the QUIRKs in the Maffra Spectator so you might see how they connect to other families in the area...you can search Trove by newspaper, so scroll down until you see the Maffra Spectator and tick that...and/or broaden the search by ticking 'Victoria' These are some burials in Maffra Cemetery: 7/8 QUIRK Muriel Jean Apr.1963 63 William J m/o Ian (dec) & Roma 7/8 QUIRK William John Nov.1978 77 Muriel J f/o Ian (dec) & Roma 891/892 QUIRK William 13/11/1938 Grace 891/892 QUIRK Grace 1979y 99 William 990/992 QUIRK Annie Elizabeth no dates 990/992 QUIRK Denis no dates 1977y 69 991/992 QUIRK Annie Christina 10/01/1953 64 .... found this on google: The Camden was originally built by John Moss Clarke in 1862 in Johnson Street, Maffra; his brother-in-law Thomas Quirk was the licensee. Clark sold the hotel to Mr William Bannister in 1878, who built uip the business and eventually sold to Sweetnams in 1900. Not long afterwards a new, two-storey building with a spectacular verandah plus a tower was erected and named the "Maffra Hotel". Over the years the verandah deteriorated and was ultimately removed. The building and its licence however still remains. Currently it operates as the Maffra Community Sports Club. .... also from google: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ausygs/p89.htm hope this helps a bit! Thats exactly how i felt when i was given them. You can use the Trove newspaper site to find out more on just about all the names in there. There are 795 references to Rabbi Moses Rintel alone, plus his brother Hyam and the extended Rintel family. Using the Trove site i have been able to trace Simeons family down to his daughters marriage to Major John Campbell in Perth in 1911 and his gtrad daughters marriage to John Hogan of Boulder Wa in 1937. And that is not even thinking about the hundreds of reference to the Harts, especially in Victoria. Happy reading Peter Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
