He emigrated to Victoria, Australia in Jan., 1853 on board the NELSON. He probably had a daughter called Alice Marian Dudley born about 1869. On 13th April, 1878 he died at 56, Peel St., Hotham, Victoria. He was a meat salesman. I would like to know more about him, i.e. whom he married, names of other children, anything. I would also like to get in touch with other descendants. Many thanks, Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. When he went off to the war Alice wrote a couple of letters to the army enquiring about his welfare. Please note in those letters she used the name May Nicholls Miss May Nicholls Miss M Nicholls. Grandad always said that he thought it bit strange. This is all i know on this matter so it may remain a mystery. What Alice was doing in NSW in 1918 I do not know. When i first came across these letters i thought it was maybe another relation but my searches have not as yet turned up anymore Nicholls family living in NSW at this time. These are official letters that turned up when i ordered Grandads war records from Canberra about 20 years ago. The army tells me they have no idea who this Miss or Mrs M Nicholls is. I have put it down as another unexplained item of the past. Kind Regards Brian Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
