I had the marriage for Charles & Petrea and had found Petrea's naturalisation. A month ago I paid the fee to have Charles naturalisation papers digitised - cheaper than going to Canberra to look at them. Now I'm stumped on his arrival in Oz. He moved around, Melbourne, Mudgee, Penrith Tamworth, finally Sydney. REgards, Gennie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. There are several of my ancestors who paid their way and I have never found which ship they came on. You have lots more luck if they were convicts or were assigned to work for someone. Sometimes you can get lucky with a newspaper article (particularly country newspapers) on an obit or wedding announcement etc and find out from that more information. Not gospel of course but sometimes spot on. Cheers Sally Flynn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The source is has "Application for Certificate of Naturalization" in 1907. I have looked in the Index to Unassisted Inward Passenger Lists to Victoria 1852-1923 but cannot find anything that fits these dates. There is a Charles Myers arriving a couple of years later but he is only 12 and arrived aboard the Orient. According to his naturalisation papers he remained in Melbourne for 6 years. I've also looked on Ships List and Ancestry, and googled him but no luck. Can anyone help me. Shipping & passenger lists are probably the thing I dislike most about family research bec I never know where to look. Any help would be appreciated. Lots of 'Williams' in that family! The year fits, but the parents don't. I am wondering whether the boy was put up for adoption by his birth family. Does anyone know how I can check?? Yes you are right in correcting me, migration would have occurred some time between 1871 and 1878. I found Horace Frank on the 1871 census in England and his first marriage was registered in Australia in 1878. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Yes, I believe that is the case. Oral family history speaks of the wife dying and her family taking 2 boys to live with them. I can only find record of one child (William Horace), and I am not sure whether the boy's name was changed. I see no record of him ever coming to Western Australia to be with the rest of the family. Not sure if he ever knew they existed. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
