Her sister Mary Henrietta Scrutton married Charles Hime in 1857, and had a daughter Rosa Eveline Hime who married William Raleigh Sayers, the son of Edwin Mawney Sayers. Therefore a bit of a distant connection. Interestingly this morning I was at the re-opening of the Graythwaite Estate in North Sydney, which I gather was originally owned by the Sayers family as part of Euroka. It was later purchased by Thomas Dibbs, who re-built the house, re-named the estate "Graythwaite" and later bequeathed it for use as a convalescent home in WW1. It has now been beautifully restored by Shore School. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. According to the electoral roll 1903, after the marriage David was still a cook at Clarendon St South Melbourne, they lived at 87 York St South Melbourne If Mary is on the electoral roll 1903, which would be drawn up from details recorded earlier...maybe 1902....she was 21 years old then, so you could assume that her age at marriage is accurate. And David Jamison Cargill m. 16 October 1901, Melbourne, Australia is definitely your grandfather.......it is the origins of his wife that you are wanting to find? Yes I'm looking for Mary Jane Wilson, I know nothing about her, neither did her family. I have a birth registration for a Mary Jane Wilson B - 13 Aug 1882, Carlton, no father, the mother Mary Wilson 18 was born at sea, this is the only Mary Jane Wilson born in Carlton in the right time frame. Author: mshirlc Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.oceania.australia.vic.general/11549/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi I'm new to searching in Australia, I really could use some help/suggestions. I would like to find information for a Mary Wilson who gave birth to Mary Jane Wilson 13 Aug 1882 Carlton, Victoria. Mary was 18 at the time, born 1864 "at sea" no father given on the birth. Mary's parents might be John Wilson and Sarah Ann Williams. I think Mary Jane Wilson born 13 Aug 1882 could be my grandmother who married David Jamison Cargill, 16 October 1901, Melbourne, Australia. Their son David was born 06 November 1902, they left Australia for Scotland (David's home) via London in Sept 1903. There is a discrepancy in the marriage year, I have a copy of the original marriage that says 1901, I have another copy from Australia that says 1902, on the children's Scottish births it says 1901. I think Mary Jane gave some wrong information on her marriage, her age 21, (born- 1880), she might have given her grandparents John Wilson and Sarah Ann Williams as her parents. Mary Jane's address on her marriage certificate was 87 York St, South Melbourne, Mary Jane and David Cargill were at the same address in the 1903 Electoral Rolls. Does anyone have ideas about how to find information for Mary Wilson born- 1864 (at sea) or her daughter Mary Jane born -13 Aug 1882? I'd like to prove or disprove this is my grandmother and her mother. I'll be grateful for any help or suggestions. A search of death notices found a tribute in the Herald Sun for Margot who died in 2007, aged 94. However we can't track down any of her family who are mentioned in the notice. We'd love to hear from Margot's family - please call our reception on 9537 1166 and please SHARE this to get the word out. She was cremated at Springvale.
