Peter/Chris, Your comment about "hidden" volumes and noting the police magistrate records is interesting. Be aware that there are also "supplementary" volumes to some of the conduct records - CON 32-1-5 is an example. These may not be referenced in some of the compiled databases, such as Founders and Survivors, even the Female Convicts in Van Diemen’s Land Database. I haven't had time to find the TAHO reference to these, but they should be easy to find. The particular individual I was following was Ellen Maloney (you wouldn't believe how many women there are of this name or its variants), found on page 105 of CON-40-1-7. She managed to fill the space available (and some of the adjoining space as well) for notes on her record with a variety of offences. These resulted in extending her sentence by 7 years, double her original. But there was a gap in the dates so I went searching and came across the supplementary volume - it is only referenced on that page by an almost illegible squiggle in the bottom rh corner which could be "SV5p96". -- Mike Hurburgh Using Opera's mail client: http://www.opera.com/mail/ --- This email has been checked for viruses by AVG. https://www.avg.com
