I have a few west coast books I could check for various things if you let us know. The west coast newspaper Zeehan and Dundas Herald only operated from 1890-1922, unfortunately.     3. Just a thought?. Qtown ,Tas did not become established until late 1800's, where Qtown NZ was a gold mining town from mid 1800's. Perhaps look there.
