Hello fellow listers. Keith and Brian I have an Ann Walker that I am also interested in. Ann Gray, "formerly Walker"; mother of Lillias Gray who was born Hobart 7 March 1859; and spouse? of John Gray; according to neighbouring informant Ann Jessup. Lillias was brought up in the family of the informant Ann Jessup nee Beard. I have no idea of what happened to either of Lillias’ parents apart from a genetic match to a family with a John Gray who died whilst whaling on the ship “Grecian” in 1859. I doubt Ann is the Ann Walker daughter of James Walker and Esther Tucker. Perhaps Ann Walker connected to Joseph Lawless connection is the best, with an assumption that both Ann Walkers were cousins. But, not the same person, as Ann Lawless was going birth to a daughter Annie in the same year as Ann nee Walker was giving birth to Lillias Gray This assumption of family connection is due to the connection between Lillias’s family and Bruny Island timber industry as well as (not close) genetic cousin matches. An inquest was held into the death of Ann (Lawless) Walker who died in 20 April 1859. According to a report in the Courier, the inquest was held at Flower Pot Bay, D’Entrecasteaux Channel of Ann Walker, aged, 32, death caused by wrong treatment during childbirth due to ignorance. For those with Walker ancestors, comparison of DNA and paper trails may help differentiate the various Ann Walkers. My mother’s GEDMatch number is T650241. My challenge is for listers with Walker family ancestors to check for a genetic match, with denote to washout at 4th cousin level of most cousins’ genetic material. Best wishes to all Beverley
