Hi again, listers, Thanks to Suzanne, I now have additions and corrections on our Webber family. Unfortunately Catherine WEBBER, nee McCAFFRAY remains a mystery. I do have her will, where she mentions her children and property, but it gives nothing away as to her family. So apart from Catherine, I have everything else asked for. regards Edie ------ Original Message ------ From: "Edie McArthur" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, 2 Jun, 2018 At 10:44 AM Subject: Catherine McCAFFRAY, wife of John WEBBER, lived EVandale, Tasmania Hi, I have some blanks spots in this family tree, I want to fill. Catherine McCAFFRAY is a bit of a mystery. I have a 1838 birth for her based on age at death. I do not know the date or month, where in Tasmania if in fact Tasmania or names of parents. She was married to John WEBBER (Convict from Stogursey, Somerset) In the records he shows as John GWEBBER, but that isnt correct.
Hi Edie, There was a Catherine McCOFFEY who arrived on the Maitland in 1854 aged 18 who might be worth a follow up on. Details are here - https://stors.tas.gov.au/CB7-12-1-1$init=CB7-12-1-1p95j2k Cheers, Peter On Sat, Jun 2, 2018 at 8:19 PM, Edie McArthur <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi again, listers, > Thanks to Suzanne, I now have additions and corrections on our Webber > family. MMM....interesting !! Just had a look on Ancestry and there is hiring list with Catherine McCoffey on it. Says 'sent to Launceston', employer is listed as Mr Murray, Launceston and weren't they married in the house of Mr Kennedy Murray Esq, Evandale... Thank you Peter, it is worth keeping in mind. Maybe a family member has a document with McCoffey on t. I seemed to remember earlier that Catherine had been unable to read or write, so she wouldnt have known what was being written, but her husband John Webber was able to read and write.but she was a business woman later. Those records were so faint, I could see how most folk would miss them. Will keep it in mind. Catherine was 50 when she passed away in 1888.
