    3. Hi Edie, There's nothing on the NSW State Archives site to show Joseph FLOOD's native place - Joseph FLOOD, tried Dublin, January 1792, sentenced to 7 years, aged 30, ship "Boddington" Ship Indent - information as above, except trial is shown as December 1791 The Irish Convict Database has him as - Joseph FLOOD, arrived "Boddingtons" 1793, aged 30 on arrival, born 1763, native place blank, tried 1791 Dublin City for stealing a horse, previous trial conviction trials details available, spouse-lived with Ann GORMAN (d.1814); died 1808 Parramatta The Irish-Australia Transportation Database doesn't have him listed, but many of the early records didn't survive in Ireland due to a fire. There are a couple of family trees on the www.familysearch.org website that show him as Joseph FLOOD born 1763 in Fingal in co Dublin, but there is nothing on the IGI to support this information.. Maybe joining one of the Irish mailing lists would help, if there are more records available in Ireland to be checked? http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/IRL/IRELAND-ROOTS.html http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/IRL/IRL-DUBLIN.html http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/IRL/IRISH_CONVICTS.html Have you posted messages to the New South Wales or the Convict Mailing Lists? Cheers Trish Nowra NSW > Has anyone researching this family of Joseph FLOOD as above, broke down > the > brickwall as to where in Dublin, Ireland and to whom he was born, date, > etc, please. > Edie McArthur >

    3. Hi Trish, I havent posted to the NSW rootsweb list or the conict list as yet. I am already on the Dublin, rootsweb list and I have joined a websitge similar to rootschat and genforum today it is Ireland based and is called Ireland xo.com Ireland reaching out, where you can post a message. I replied to such a message today and have received two already re Joseph Flood and his son John Flood. Over the years there have been so many conflicting peices of information, so it would be great to get something concrete. Thanks for replying Edie McArthur ----- Original Message ----- From: "symonds3" <psym8950@bigpond.net.au> To: "AUS-TASMANIA" <aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 03, 2014 5:10 PM Subject: Re: [AUS-Tas] Joseph FLOOD, born Dublin c1763-1808,convict per "BODDINGTON" arrd NSW 1793 from Cork. > Hi Edie, > There's nothing on the NSW State Archives site to show Joseph FLOOD's > native > place - > Joseph FLOOD, tried Dublin, January 1792, sentenced to 7 years, aged 30, > ship "Boddington" > Ship Indent - information as above, except trial is shown as December 1791 > The Irish Convict Database has him as - > Joseph FLOOD, arrived "Boddingtons" 1793, aged 30 on arrival, born 1763, > native place blank, tried 1791 Dublin City for stealing a horse, previous > trial conviction trials details available, spouse-lived with Ann GORMAN > (d.1814); died 1808 Parramatta

    3. Hi A message on the Ire-Dublin list came through for someone else and i thought I would search for Joseph Flood there. What I found was a Josephus Flood, baptised in 1765. It gives father as Laurentii Flood and and mother Sera. Neither are family names, but he could have been orphaned early and never knew his parents. The Church image isnt available at the moment but it gives the Book number, Entry number and Record Identifier, so will be worth looking at that. If the Church register page has not yet been imaged that would explain why this particular Josephus Flood, n Latin form hasnt been found before. Our Josephs birth is given as c1763 as he his age was given as 30 on arrival in 1793. That age may not be correct either. Will check the place of birth of Fingal out as well.
