    3. I last learnt Latin 50 years ago but here goes Contaserunt I think this suggests that they were previously married in a protestant church in Ireland, and that Richard was a soldier in the 40th Regiment of foot Translation: JOINED in marriage are : Richard Haim and Margaret Maher (40 REGIMENT) who previously contrascerunt AT Templemore in Ireland before the PROTESTANT CLERGYMAN (the third ? fourth day of October, 1821) Witnesses: Michael Kinsela and Catherine Jennings. I have used Google to translate the passages but I think it may have made errors but I have no Latin knowledge. Any help or suggestions appreciated. RGD36/1/1/1047 January 21st 1827 Roman Catholic Church Hobart, Tasmania: In matrimonium conjuncti sunt: Ricardus hames et Margarita maher (de 40 Reg) qui prius contrascerunt april Templemore in Hibernia coram ministro protestante (tertia ant quaria die Octobris 1821) Testibus: Micaele Kinsela et catharine Jennings. Google Translation: The marriage are linked: Richard Haim and Margaret Maher (about 40 Kg) who previously contrascerunt April Templemore in Ireland before the officer to the witness (the third or fourth day of October, 1821) Witnesses: Michael Kinsela and Catherine Jennings. RGD32/1/1/2375 January 15 1827 Roman Catholic Church Hobart, Tasmania: Baptisata est Anna. Parentibus: Ricardo Hames et Margarita Maher (de 40 Reg) Sponsoribus: Michaele Kinsela et catherine Jennings. Google Translation: Anna was baptized. Parents: Richard Hamer and Margaret Maher (about 40 Kg) Sponsors: Michael Kinsela and Catherine Jennings. Also if there is anyone on the list that is good at reading old hand writing that is poorly written and slightly smudged I would also really like to get some assistance with the witnesses names on a 1847 marriage certificate that I purchased some time ago from Victoria. I think it is likely that the witness Margaret on the cert is the mother of the Bride but with a new last name due to remarriage. The Bride is the Anna(Anne Haimes) above and I think it likely that the witness is her mother Margaret If I can work out her new married name then it will be a real break through for me and one that has had me stuck for some time. Margaret's husband Richard died in 1833 leaving her a widow.I have been unable to find a record for a new marriage for Margaret but it is possible that it could have taken place in either Tasmania, Victoria or South Australia as at least two of her son's moved inter-state. Any help with this would also be very appreciate. Thank you for taking the time to read my post Regards Mabel
