Hi Gail, I note in your post you've proven that the convict Thomas Dennis/Dennersfield was NOT the man you seek. Its just an interesting note that that individual was recorded of an offence in the Fingal lower court in 1861 - http://stors.tas.gov.au/LC143-1-3 pg 309. Given that Thomas Dennis' family was at Falmouth, Fingal, Cullenswood, St Marys and this event takes place at Avoca its easy to see how someone who was answering such a post would jump to the conclusion it was him? Thomas Dennis is certainly not the most common name in such small area as the Fingal Valley!!. Hope someone can come up with information you need to prove who your man's origins?
