For those interested in the very early days of Launceston, here’s a link to what may be the first plan for the town, probably around 1807-1808. http://eprints.utas.edu.au/17643/ http://eprints.utas.edu.au/17643/1/ltn-90673.pdf The streets aren’t named, but the canal at the bottom RH corner indicates that the wide N/S street may be the later Charles St. Today’s Canal St is named after it. The plan went to Sydney, and was then returned to VDL about 1844, according to the notes on the sketch. Judy
