Thank you to both Maureen and Mabel and yes, I will indeed have a good time looking them up. I don't think this ties in with my Peters family here though - it may, back in England of course. My gg grandfather was Peter PETERS - he married Ann (Ellen, Elinor etc) HOUNSELL in Battle England the 1066 place) and they came to Sydney and Albury region within a few days of marriage - he died on the farm in some accident after he had say four children. She was pregnant at the time and married a few months later, Christmas day, one of her now deceased husband's workmates on the Kuriong (? Spelling) - probably present day Corryong region - station. The man who became my step gg grandfather was James Hilsey or Ilsley, a then free convict. Ellen Hounsell was I think born out of wedlock. Battle region. Peter PETERS was not from Battle - I have in mind somewhere a bit further along, like Portsmouth or even up towards Reading. It is some time since I looked at this, obviously. The Peters/ Hilsley and Sawyer families were at Jindera just across the country road from each other, on orchards. My paternal grandmother, nee SAWYER, had a Hilsley as her bridesmaid/witness at her marriage to HUNTER (my maiden name) in 1901. I think there was a lot of knowing each other back in England - a descendant of James BURROWS (my father/s father's mother's father married a close relly of SAWYER here - changed his name to BURROWES, Charles did, and se think it was because his father James committed bigamy - he spent time in gaol here in Victoria for it later 1860s. Now, I have more to dig about with! Thank you again Dawn --- This email is free from viruses and malware because avast! Antivirus protection is active. http://www.avast.com
