Hi I am seeking advice on locating three early Hobart Town properties. 1. Around 1831 Scottish immigrant Hugh Murray sold his Macquarie River land grant and moved to Hobart Town where he took over the license of the British Hotel at 24 Liverpool Street from John Martin. He and his family appear to have initially lived there as well. Opposite was Mr John Harris, butcher and next door was Mrs Davis' music ware-room. Also opposite in 1835 was Sharps Saddlery warehouse. 2. In 1843 Hugh moved to new, purpose built premises in Collins Street, opposite the office of the "Trumpeter'. Here he operated a large Wine and Spirit store. His Liverpool Street premises were taken over by Ogilvie and Co. 3. He had a house built in Colville Street, Battery Point. I have a photo showing a large timber home with a picket fence fronting an unformed track without a footpath (Colville Street). It appears to be no longer standing. Regards Andrew Cocker
