Good morning Before I begin with my Question - I want to say I have all the records for this man So please do not waste your time for me. What I do need is someone to prove to me this Samuel NELSON born around 1815 -1816 Sent over to Tas on the Arson in 1844 as a convict [I am not interesting in what others are saying on line I don't believe it] Did he stay and die in Tasmania Or is he the one who went to South Australia as everyone is saying There are two entries for Samuel Nelson in the Biographical Index of South Australian that have the same man twice marrying Maria TUNNEY - One they have coming to SA on the ship Peri from Tasmania the other just appeared? This is what I know He was according to the UK Hulk Records - age 28 years in 1843 - makes him Born 1815 He was age 28 years in 1844 when he was tried was shipped out to Tasmania - makes him Born: 1816 He was 28 years old when he married in 1851 in South Australia - makes him Born 1823 When he died in 1890 they say he was 71 years old - makes him Born 1819 Online people are saying he was born in 1829 - now is this is so then he served 6 years in the army and was missing for 3 years which makes him 11 years old when he joined? I know they took boys as drummer boy ect but his all dose not add up He was a Boatsman - and Labourer elsewhere- listed as trade on his convict papers After all that can anyone tell me if a Samuel NELSON born between 1815 - 1829 - die in Tasmania after he got his ticket of leave in 1847 Did this convict marry in Tasmania? Hi Jill, I guess the concrete evidence that he didn't stay in Tasmania is the departure listing on the Peri for him on the 16 June 1850 for Adelaide. Go to this link - http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=2 Enter his name you will see the entry recorded in POL220/1/1 p237. Click on that and it will bring up that volume online scroll to page 237 and then you can download a copy of the page if you wish.
