Hi, Listers, Hoping SKS can help me sort out the family of Daisy Parry who married James Thomas O'Brien (James O'Brien & Myrtle Parry TAS 0087/1908) and the sister of Richard David Henry Parry -- he of infamy in the 1924 murder case of Thomas Frederick Jordan with many, many articles available through TROVE on the various court proceedings, his appeal of guilty by reason of insanity, etc. in which both James Thomas O'Brien and his wife Daisy O'Brien (sister to Richard) gave significant testimonies. I have found the birth of a Daisy Parry born 29 April 1892 to Henry Parry and Ellen Davis in Strahan, TAS (reg no. 2580). There is also the birth of a Myrtle D Parry in 1891 in Randwick NSW to William E & Bessy Parry --- but I think is not Daisy Parry. I have found James Thomas & Daisy O'Brien in the 1922 Deloraine electoral roll. I have found Daisy O'Brien with Monica Ethel O'Brien (teacher) and Noreen Blanche O'Brien (typist - who was born 27 December 1908 per manifest of return sailing on the ship Iberia from England in 1958. James is in the 1914 Deloraine electoral roll but Daisy is not listed with him...perhaps because of her age if she is the Daisy Parry born in 1892. James Thomas O'Brien was born 17 September 1886 Hobart and died accidentally in 1930 when struck by a falling spar on the West Coast road, as his son James Thomas O'Brien, Jr., watched & testified at the inquest. The Inquest article reported in the Advocate (TROVE) on Thursday 27 March 1930 references that James Jr has two brothers and six sisters. The murder trial testimony reports in 1924 also refer to a young child of Daisy being in the Court. Other researchers on Ancestry have a number of children listed for James & Daisy...but do not include Monica & Noreen. They have James Jr as born in 1910. Unfortunately, their listings are not sourced. I've checked what Ancestry has available...and as many sources as I can find online ....but to no avail. I have James Thomas O'Brien's parents and grandparents. But need help with the parentage of Daisy Parry and the children of James & Daisy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! cheers, Elaine TAS Descendant in Reno, Nevada
Hello, Listers, Many, many thanks to Suzanne, Salley and Frances for providing me with details on the children of James & Daisy (nee Parry) O'Brien. With the details they so kindly sent me, I was able to go online again and start digging deeper and found even more information that helps sort out the family story! This list and the people who respond are just wonderful! and I'm always happy to contribute my bits whenever possible.
