    3. Hi Andrew, 1) Online photos of British Hotel via LINC Tasmania - http://catalogue.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/item/?q=British+Hotel&i=11&id=PH30-1-2549 http://catalogue.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/item/?q=British+Hotel&i=10&id=PH30-1-2575 http://catalogue.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/item/?q=British+Hotel&i=3&id=602322 The Frankland map might give you a rough idea where it was - http://catalogue.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/item/?q=frankland+map&i=6&id=548683 Reference in newspapers in 1896 mentions 20,22 and 24 Liverpool Street having drainage problems abated. Instead of water flowing into Hospital Grounds now taken away by underground drain. Indicates it was in the block the RHH now occupies completely or opposite perhaps, 2) The land referred to "opposite the Trumpeter" appears to have originally belonged to Mark Solomon. On the modern street map it appears it would have sat opposite Drysdale House swallowed up by NAB House and the large complex where APIA and some of the hospital clinics reside next door. Might have been one of the shops along the right hand side towards centre in this photo - http://catalogue.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/item/?q=collins+argyle&format=Images+%5c+Photograph&i=5&id=NS1013-1-50 3) Hugh Murray's house wasn't a Battery Point. In the advertisements for its sale in 1846 its described as having frontage on Argyle Street and Colville Street. Again referring to the Frankland map there was a Colville Row at Battery Point in the very early days. There was also Colville Street beyond the town boundaries (modern North Hobart) which appears to be modern Federal Street. Colville Row appears to have assumed the street name once things expanded. Hope that might give you some rough estimates as to where the properties might have existed... 3. Apologies Andrew, looks as though I was off by a block as to the position of the British Hotel. Probably due to the number changes that occurred in some of the streets through different periods. If you go here - http://catalogue.statelibrary.tas.gov.au/item/?q=metropolitan+drainage&i=2&id=553788 then scroll to Hobart Plan - Hobart Detail Plan No. 03 . Search along Liverpool Street to no 38 and you will clearly see it marked as the British Hotel.
