Hi Carol, My understanding is that civil registrations didn't start in Victoria until 1st July 1853. As such the only records available for Aug 1852 will be burial records, which are very hit and miss. I think this explains why you cannot find his death certificate. Registrations didn't exist yet. Have you looked/found a burial record for him? Hoping others can confirm my understanding about Victorian Registrations. Regards, Chris.
