Is it possible to find out the death of someone in the mid twentieth century? I am looking for the date of William Dowling’s demise. (1850-1930?) Susan
Hi Susan, There is a death at Launceston of William Archer DOWLING, 21 September 1937, aged 87 (in his 88th year) so the year of birth 1850 fits. http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article52161067 There is a listing at Carr Cemetery in Launceston for William DOWLING, aged 87, buried 22 September 1937, location B15 no 394; I couldn't find any obvious wife nearby. His will is at Tas Archives, but I couldn't open it online - http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=9 Also at Tas Archives, Colonial Families Index, William Archer DOWLING, born 1850, son of Henry DOWLING and Eliza TAYSPILL; siblings Robert (1840), Sarah Tayspill (1844), and Susan Jane (1846).
