Hi List Looking again as the last (well almost) of my big brick walls. Mary Ann BROWN . Has ayone claimed the Mary Ann Brown born to William and Ann Brown 11.7.1831 baptised 5718/1834. William was a splitter of Deloraine. My Mary Ann married Stephen Andrews and died in 26/8/1894 aged 66, which makes 1829/30 a more likely birth year but it is close. The 1851 census states she was "born in the colony". The splitter ties in with Stephen's occupation. He was born at Stringy Bark forest, wherever that is. If someone has her in their tree - I can concentrate elsewhere. regards Sharon (in Sydney)
Hi Sharon, Just trying to clarify some details regarding Mary Ann Brown's husband, Stephen Andrews. You say he was a splitter and born at String Bark forest? TAHO has him as a convict per Somersetshire born Bath Kent, and a Masons labourer?? see below - http://portal.archives.tas.gov.au/menu.aspx?search=5 http://search.archives.tas.gov.au/ImageViewer/image_viewer.htm?CON33-1-21,227,5,L,80 Only querying because conflicting info doesn't help in a search...
