Henry CONE was convicted of stealing thirteen shillings in 1787, when he was twenty-four. He seems to have been born in or around Halesworth in Suffolk, but was originally sentenced to death, but his conviction was commuted to a sentence of transportation for life at Suffolk Assizes. He was transported on the ill-fated Guardian, and transferred to the Neptune which brought him to Australia. He seems to have been granted a conditional pardon, and from Norfolk Island he transferred, I think, to Tasmania. I think he married, and had a number of children, and I wonder whether anyone on this list might be researching him. I would love to know what happened to him: who he married, what children he had and, if possible, any knowledge anyone may have of his brothers and sisters left behind in England.
