    3. Hello Listers I am hoping that somebody may be able to provide a reference to Town Boards in Tasmania. I am interested when they were first created as a level of local government, their purpose, and the related legislation that sets them up and defines the way they worked. Thanks in advance John Hammond PO Box 551, Clayfield 4011 QLD, Australia Mobile: +61 419 648 649 Home: +61 7 3268 5781 E-Mail: jhammond@iprimus.com.au

    3. Hi John I can't help with your question exactly, but if you fail to get any good leads, I note that a number of the municipalities have had decent histories written about them. Not the same thing I know, but they may have related info in their 'origins' type sections. 3. Hello Listers After further searches in Trove and Google I believe "The Towns Boards Act 1891" answers the issues that I have. As context, I was trying to understand how the township of Beltana was excised in 1894 (from a local government context) from the Clarence Municipality and the Cambridge Road Trust. I believe I now understand the process and how the Beltana community established their own Town Board. Thank you John Hammond -----Original Message----- From: aus-tasmania-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-tasmania-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of John Hammond Sent: Wednesday, 28 May 2014 12:25 PM To: aus-tasmania@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUS-Tas] History of Town Boards Hello Listers I am hoping that somebody may be able to provide a reference to Town Boards in Tasmania.
