He stole 8 Bushels of wheat from his master Mr. Richard Troy. He was sentenced to 7 yrs Transportation. There has to be a record of that "somewhere". You say that a Tom Davey wrote to Macquarie, asking permission for him to stay. Might he have been assigned as a servant and came to Tas with his Master - perhaps Mr Troy? There are 32 entries for Richard Troy in Trove, but seemingly for two distinct people.
