Hello John I noticed your surname is shared with one of the members of the first Board, so though I should ask. Was that F W P Hammond the Frank Hammond who established the successful transport company Frank Hammond Pty Ltd.? I ask because I worked for the company in Hobart in 1967, by which time it had become part of the Wm Crosby group. My cousin also worked for it as the Transport Manager until his sudden death. While long retired, Charles Hammond, Frank's son, maintained an office in the building and I spent considerable time talking to him each week as he prepared his banking deposit details for me to bank for him at to the old ES&A Bank in Macquarie Street. Another of the Hammond family, Barbara I think, also worked in the office, alongside my cousin in Transport. Hello Bill, Yes, I am great grandson of Frank William Pitt Hammond, founder of Frank Hammond Pty Ltd, and member of the Beltana, later Lindisfarne, Town Board for twelve years. In 1903, which was Frank's first year as Chairman, it became the Lindisfarne Town Board. Hence my interest in trying to understand the responsibilities of the Town Board.
