Hi Trish, I'm afraid the valuation records only cover 1858 - 1899. That's all that's available in hard copy at the old Hobart Reference Library. The Tasmanian Post Office directories don't offer much hope either. They only give towns not even streets in most cases. I know from archived threads on the list you have the death certificates for both John and Margaret Close. Another line of enquiry stemming from John (and Margaret's) deaths might be open to you. In his death notice of 1936 its noted he died at the Devon Public Hospital, Latrobe. TAHO have the records for that hospital. If you follow this link you will see there are admission registers available for the time period John was in that hospital - http://search.archives.tas.gov.au/default.aspx?detail=1&type=S&id=HSD62 or the register of deaths - http://search.archives.tas.gov.au/default.aspx?detail=1&type=S&id=AB806 If the information was provided by the patient or a close relative it might give far more detail than the death certificate. Margaret died at the Spencer Hospital, Wynyard in 1931. Again there are admission registers available for that facility - http://search.archives.tas.gov.au/default.aspx?detail=1&type=S&id=AB806 Perhaps an enquiry to TAHO would elicit further details??
